// Final Test

The worst thing that could happen to anyone at this stage of FYP is.....Busted PC. Truth right? Well UN-luckily for me...it happened to my PC a week ago. 2 of my RAM slots are busted and gotta went through the rest of my FYP year with 2GB RAMs.

Well, the sadness continues as my save file (.aep) having a huge problem rendering. So what I did was scratch that. Throw it in the recycle bin and start again with smaller animations. By the word 'smaller animations' means less plugins, less animation, and shorter timeline.

Thank god I managed to finished it in less than a week. Phew..... So anyway, here's my final animation test, It's not 100% there yet. Still need a little minor changes here and there.

// Shattered Glass

I just found out that there's a shattered glass plugin in the After Effects (I know...noob right?). This DEFINITELY helps a lot! I mean really a lot! Making the 'glass' of my projection's windows shattered and walls crumbles are sooooo COOL! But a bit problem though, MY PC IS SOOOOO SLOWWW :(

// Animating

Oh! After effects, why are you sooooooooooooooooooo heavy?!

I couldn't really post the 100% animation because it is still in progress :(

HAUZ (SKOOL)
(Part 1) Animation for the windows of the building
(Part 2) Texturing the wall of the building
(Part 3) Cracking the roof

Overall the animation is 3 minutes long. Phew~

// Finalyze Proposal

Title: Tolerance

Background:
An open message to parents on the concept of tolerance.

Problems:
-- Hate of other people, religion, sexuality.
-- Most of them come from parents and teachers.

Objectives:
-- To create awareness of teaching tolerance to children.
-- To show what happen if there is zero tolerance in the future.
-- To teach people about tolerance

Motivation:
I got the topic after watching a video clip shown by my lecturer, Kok Yoong during the DM's class. It's a video about a handicap person sharing her story of being a handicap to her audience.

During her talk, she said;

"...they only learn to be frighten...when an adult influences them to behave that way."

I 100% agreed with her. Children looked up at adults and learn from adult. Children need to learn how love one another, to respect one another and not to expose their mid with hatred.

Idealization & Concept:
Create an audio visual that include motion graphic, video and typography.

Target Audience:
-- Adult (Parents)

Review, Analysis & Precedence studies:

Design Approach:
-- Infographics
-- Motion graphics
-- Audio Visual

// Oh! VDMX (Part 2)

URGHHHH!! So confusing using this VDMX. Spending hours on little progress. It's not hard to find a good VDMX tutorial on the internet. But, most of the tutorials that I've found are all have ACCENTS! It's not that I have problems with other ethnicity. DUHHH!! I'm doing a project on Tolerance...LOL. It's just that so hard to understand them :( Luckily there's 1 tutorial that I've found that I think it's perfect to understand so far :)

// Oh! Quartz Composer

VDMX unfortunately doesn't have this feature built-in, but fortunately has beautiful integration with Quartz Composer - allowing me to build a quad warper in QC using a GLSL vertex shader, which should be super fast.

Luckily the plugin is for free. All I have to do is download it for my VDMX :)

// Oh! VDMX (Part 1)

VDMX is a perfect software for projection mapping project. Really happy that I finally have this software.
But there are 2 problems regarding this software. First, this software only runs on mac...yup...MAC~ Secondly, never have I ever use this software before. So, got to spend a little more time in going through tutorials and sample projects just to get use to it.
The Mac problem is settled, thanks to my housemate; Alan for lending me his MacBook Pro. Thanks a million for that. Really appreciate it buddy! ^__^ Now, onto the tutorials on how to use this VDMX

// Test

I've created a 10 seconds intro animation test for the projection mapping:

// Content

I've thought hard on what are my contents for my projects. Finding tolerance issues in the local news would be straight forward. So I've decided to search on topics / news on something that shows no tolerance. For example, the issue of bullying, child abuse, racism, etc.

Here are some topics that I've found a local online news:
http://www.bharian.com.my/bharian/articles/Kesbulipatutdihapuskan/Article/
http://www.bharian.com.my/bharian/articles/Janganbiaranakdiseksa/Article/
http://www.bharian.com.my/bharian/articles/Budayasenior-juniordisekolahpatuthapus/Article/
http://www.bharian.com.my/bharian/articles/Isuperkaumanbolehjejaskestabilannegara/Article/

So with these topics (more to come), I'll inject them in my projections.

// Final Presentation - FYP 1

// Project Design 2

Took me a few hours to create a suitable teaser for my installation project. Don't know whether I should make a motion graphic teaser or a series of footage put together. Can't decide...so made both of them LOL.

So I've decided to change my subject matter for my installation. Instead of using only simple boxes, I've decided to create a miniature model of a kindergarten school since it is about children. So the model I created it from scratch. Not basing it from any actual building (atleast..). Kinda got the idea of creating the miniature building by going for the old American style church like kindergarten.

In order to expand more on this topic tolerance, I made a mind map about it:

I will inject elements like sad/hurt/depress in my upcoming installation. Just a few emotion that can reach viewer's feeling.

How Tolerance in my installation:
Using projection mapping installation. Why projection mapping? Easier for audience to understand because using only video and projected in various sections and angles.
